Over the past 18 months planning permission has been granted for 7 new or replacement properties on the North West side of the A267 at Mark Cross.
To allow people to cross more safely from one side to the other, the Parish Council have been liaising with East Sussex County Council regarding the possibility of a new safe crossing point in the village. It is expected that, if approved, this will be situated just north of the site of the old village hall somewhere along the length of the closeboard fence shown below.
The proposal will also include a new pavement on the north west side of the road. As well as increasing safety, it is hoped that it will encourage more of us to walk rather than hop in our cars to other parts of the village.
Our chances of getting East Sussex County Council approval to these improvements, and match funding (where they will contribute up to 50% of the cost), will be greatly improved if we can show that the proposal is supported by residents of the parish. We are therefore seeking input from as many people as possible, and need to submit the proposal with evidence of local support by 20th October 2017.
You can show your support or raise concerns in a number of ways:-
• Send an email to the clerk of the council at email@example.com, or your local councillors based in the village - firstname.lastname@example.org
• Write to the clerk at the following address:-
Clerk to Rotherfield Parish Council
82 Fermor Way
• Sign a petition which will be available at the Mark Cross Community Centre and at Mark Cross School and hopefully other places.
• Complete the one question survey on this link https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/V8HGBWW
We hope you will feel able to provide us with a few minutes of your time to help us get this proposal approved by East Sussex County Council.
