The allotments were established in 1998 and were part of the Rotherfield Horticulture & Allotments Association. Subsequently the land was sold, and the new Rotherfield Allotments Association was set up as a separate entity in 2012 and the land sub-let to the Association by the Parish Council.

The Allotments are situated in Chant Lane. It is a tranquil site with lovely views. There are 20 full plots, each plot measures 70ft. by 16ft., and some are divided into half plots for those wanting a smaller area.

There is parking on site, we have water butts and as we share the field with horses, we have a ready supply of manure! The only restrictions are we are not allowed to erect sheds or to plant trees on the site and we do not use hosepipes directly on our plots to minimise water charges. We have mowers and a strimmer that members can use.

We recently erected a new fence, with help from the Rotherfield Trust and the Bonfire Society and the site is now completely rabbit proof. During the summer months, we have a monthly working party to keep the communal areas in good order; members are expected to help at these.

We are a friendly bunch, we have families with children, retirees and everyone in between and we operate a buddy system to support anyone new to gardening and allotments.

Current charges as at 2016 are £60 per plot and £30 per half plot.
